Transform Your Master Bathroom With more and more people frequenting the spa, many home owners seek to have the same amenities in their own bathroom. By adding a few key additions to almost any master bathroom, you can transform a staid design into a space worthy of your favorite spa. An easy addition to any master bath is a towel warmer. Towel warmers come in various styles, colors, and sizes that will fit in any size bathroom. Some towel warmers should be wired directly into the bathroom electrical system, while others only need to be mounted on the wall and plugged into a convenient outlet.
Keep in mind while choosing a towel warmer that the piece you choose will have a large visual impact in your bathroom. Consider carefully whether you want the towel warmer to contrast or blend in with the surrounding walls of your master bathroom. If you are short on space, look for a towel warmer that will hold towels efficiently. Often this type of towel warmer is fairly narrow but extremely tall to make use of the vertical space. Another popular addition to your master bathroom is a heated floor. These are particularly essential if you have tile floors or live in a cool climate. It is almost impossible to retrofit a heated floor into an existing floor, so this alteration is best saved for when you decide to redo your master bathroom's floors. A heated floor consists of a series of wires that are installed underneath the tile. The wires are attached to a thermostat, which can be set to your preferred temperature and are wired into the master bathroom electrical system. Once the wires are attached to the sub-floor, the tiles are placed directly above them, and the tiles in the master bathroom are installed as normal. When the thermostat senses the floor is too cold, it turns on the wiring underneath the tile in the master bathroom. The wires emit heat, which warms the tile to the desired temperature. Although a heated floor may seem like a luxury, the additional cost to a master bathroom is often less than an thousand dollars installed. If you have decided to completely remodel your master bathroom, consider installing a spa tub where your old bathtub is. A spa tub differentiates itself from other tubs by having powerful jets that can massage its occupant. A spa tub also constantly circulates and reheats the water within the tub. Although you may think that you lack the space in your master bathroom for a spa tub, many manufacturers make spa tubs that will fit into the space of a standard bathtub. If your master bathroom is particularly cramped, a Japanese spa tub provides the benefits of a traditional spa tub in a seated bathtub that takes up half of the space. Of course, if you have the available space, you may want to buy a larger bathtub for your master bathroom. Larger spa tubs normally come with more options, including more jets. Keep in mind, however, that installing a spa tub can be complicated, and a contractor will charge you extra to install it. Adding these three key items into any master bathroom will transform the space. However if you have the budget, consider adding other important elements to your master bath to create the overall look of a spa. To create the look of a spa, use a color palette that emphases neutral, soothing colors. Also think about adding additional lighting that will cast a glow around the entire space. If there are no windows in the master bathroom, consider adding a skylight for natural light. Once you have transformed your master bathroom with built in accessories, be sure to add the little extras that you find in any spa. Scented candles, luxurious soaps, and fluffy towels will further enhance the beauty and functionality of your new space.
